CHILHOOD

This is the picture I chose from my grandfather's photo album.

I chose this picture because in my opinion, this is the best one he has. I think that this picture is beautiful and high quality. This picture was taken when he was 9 years old at the Kibbutz he grew up in, "Kibbutz Sasa". Today he is 74 years old. He doesn’t remember why this picture was taken. But he said that at the Kibbutz they had cameras so they could take pictures whenever they wanted.

Grandpa Yoel

In this picture, you can see my grandfather, Yoel, sitting on the ground and smiling. He appears to be happy. He has short hair, small eyes, big ears, and a small nose. He wears a flannel shirt.

Unfortunately, this is a black and white picture so we can't tell the color of the clothes and body parts.

My Grandfather's Favorite Dish

This is my grandfather's favorite dish. It's called blintzes and it's like big pancakes with sweet cheese and strawberries. You can put any filling you want but my grandfather's favorite filling is sweet cheese with strawberries and raisins.

He said that his mom would always make this dessert on Shabbat Eve. When he saw her making it, he was happy and excited about it. He couldn’t wait to eat it!

If you want to make blintzes all you need is flour, sugar, baking powder, eggs, milk, and oil. Mix all those ingredients in a bowl and fry it in a pan with some oil. When you see some bubbles on it, flip it.

After you are done frying it, you can spread your favorite fillings. Roll it and that’s it!

My Grandfather's School

My grandfather's school was located in Petah Tikva. The name of the school he attended was Shikul Amami. He learned math, English, history, geography, and more. His favorite subject was geography. He started learning at 8:00 AM and finished at 2:00 PM

Even though all his teachers were quite old, his favorite was "Pesach" the math teacher. He clearly remembers them all for their kindness. He had many trips sometimes in the north and also in the south. They traveled by trucks and his favorite trip was at "Amudey Shlomo". In his school, the students had to wear black clothes as a uniform.

When he learned carpentry, he needed to make a perfect cube with the numbers 1 to 6. If he didn’t do his homework he had to go home and ask your parents for approval. In addition, he had to stay in the corner of the classroom.

I think his school is very different from my school. In my school, I have much more rules, but the punishments are different. Here are some things we have in common: First, we both finish and start around the same time. Also, we both have trips and special projects. Lastly, we both had to wear a uniform.

הזוית האישית

Guy: I've learned a lot about my grandfather and his past. I've learned about his school which is pretty similar to mine. I've also learned about his favorite dish. I think this project is very important because everyone must know about their family. I think the outcome of this project is really good, I've enjoyed interviewing my grandfather and I also got some compliments from my English teacher.

Yoel: I've learned about this important project, I was happy when Guy told me he needed me for his project because I love talking about my past. I think this project is important because I wouldn’t want my family to forget me. When Guy showed me the result I was very excited because I saw a whole project about me.
